Miami, Florida and Viriginia Tech moved from the Big East to the Altantic Coast

I will update the databse with those changes at the end of the 2005 NCAA Tournament.

11/5/2004: Reports were updated with results from the 2004 NCAA Tournament

4/12/2004: The Access Database has been updated with games from the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

3/6/2004: I have removed the statistics portion of the website because I haven’t had the time to update it.  I am going to start an NCAA Tournament Fact of the Day for this tournament on Selection Sunday and have one each day until March 25.  I want to make them relevant to this year’s tournament.

1/8/2004: The database has been updated with conference changes for the 2003-2004 Season.  The only two changes are Virginia Military moving from Southern to Big South and Samford moving from Atlantic Sun to Ohio Valley.  Of course many, many conference changes are yet to come in the next two seasons.  The Access Database reflects these changes.

11/13/2003: All reports have been updated with results from the 2003 Tournament. The database has also been updated with results from the 2003 Tournament. Current Conferences are as of 2002-2003 Season.

2/19/2003: Conference Affiliations verified by The Official NCAA 2003 Men's Basketball Records Book and The Official 2002 NCAA Men's Final Four Tournament Records Book.  Conference Affiliations were first verified by the Basketball Records Book. If the team was not listed, then the Final Four Tournament Records Book verified it.

The following changes to the database will be made after the 2003 NCAA Tournament:

The following teams and years will be changed from Independent to Metropolitan New York: CCNY (1947,1950), Fordham (1953,1954), Manhattan (1956,1958), New York(1943,1946,1960,1962,1963), St. John’s (1951,1952,1961).  All of these are listed as independent in the Tournament Records Book.

Connecticut (1976) is listed as being in the Yankee Conference in the Basketball Records Book and as both Yankee and ECAC New England in the Tournament Records Book.  I will change this from ECAC New England to Yankee in the database.

James Madison (1982) is listed as being an Independent in the Tournament Records Book. I will change this from ECAC South to Independent in the database.

The following discrepancies were found, but no changes were made:

St. John’s is listed in the Basketball Records Book as being a member of the New Jersey-New York 7 from 1977 to 1979.  However teams like Columbia and Princeton are listed when they are also in the Ivy League. St. John’s is listed as being in the ECAC Metro in 1977 and 1978 and as an Independent in 1979 in the Tournament Records Book.

The ECAC Conferences are not listed in the Basketball Records Book while they have both the conference listing and are listed as an independent in the Tournament Records Book.

1/26/2003: 2002 Tournament leaders - Players have been added to the Statistics selection.

1/02/2003: Some Statistics from the 2002 Tournament have been added. Click on the report box on the side. I will be adding more later

4/06/2002: All reports have been updated with results from the 2002 Tournament. The database has also been updated with results from the 2002 Tournament. I am discontinuing the spreadsheet because there are a lot of bugs in it and the Access database is more dynamic.

2/22/2002: There is a new format for HoopsTournament.Net. Reports can now be accessed at the side instead of having to scroll down to the bottom of the page. I have now completed my next project which is a database with a front-end that generates custom reports. It is a MS Access database. You need at least Access 97 to run it. It is a zipped file. It takes about 2 minutes to download with a 56K modem.
