The Mountain West's teams with automatic bids are now
0-6 combined in the NCAA Tournament.
With Illinois' win over Air Force and Indiana's win over San Diego State, the Big
Ten is now 5-0 vs. teams from the Mountain West.
San Diego's 83 points in the most they have scored in 5 tournament games.
Their previous high was 80 in 1975 against Nevada-Las Vegas in the first round (Round
of 32) and in 1985 against Nevada-Las Vegas in the first round.
Southern's 54 points is the fewest they have scored in 8 tournament games.
Their previous high was 56 in 1987 against Temple in the first round. The
70 points scored by Duke is also the fewest points that Southern has allowed in
the tournament. The previous high allowed was in the same game.
Duke is now 44-0 when allowing 65 or fewer points in a tournament game.
Texas A&M's win is their first tournament win since 1980 when they defeated
North Carolina 78-61 in the second round. It is also their first win on a
Thursday. They were previously 0-3 on Thursdays in the tournament.
This is the first time Texas A&M has won an NCAA Tournament game outside the
state of Texas.
Illinois' 78 points is the most that Air Force has allowed in 4 tournament games.
Their previous high allowed was 69 in 1960 against Depaul in the first round (Round
of 32).
Air Force's 69 points is the most they have scored in 4 tournament games.
Their previous high was 66 in 1962 against Texas Tech in the first round (Round
of 32).
Wisconsin-Green Bay's victory over Oklahoma is the first time a Horizon League team
has defeated a Big Twelve team. They were previously 0-3 vs. the Big Twelve.
However, the Horizon League was 3-1 vs. the Big Eight.
Wichita State's victory over Seton Hall is the first time a Missouri Valley team
has defeated a Big East team. They were previously 0-5 vs. the Big East.
The Southeastern Conference had 4 wins today. That ties a record for the most

George Washington's win is their first tournament win since 1994 when they defeated
UAB 51-46 in the first round.

With Montana's win over Nevada, a 12 seed has defeated a 5 seed in 20 of the 22
tournaments since 1985. The only two years that all 5 seeds won the in the
first round were 1988 and 2000.
Tennessee's win is their first tournament win since 2000 when they defeated Connecticut
65-51 in the second round.
Winthrop is now 0-6 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. That ties them with Nebraska
and Eastern Kentucky with the most tournament games without a win. Only Louisiana-Monroe
(7) and North Carolina A&T (9) have more tournament games without a win.
