Florida wins its first ever National Championship. This is also Billy Donovan?s first national title.
This is the first ever championship won by a team from the state of Florida.
Florida?s win is the first for an SEC team since 1998 when Kentucky won the title.
UCLA?s loss was the Pac Ten's first loss in a title game since Arizona lost to Duke in 2001.
Florida becomes the second school ranked #11 in the AP Poll to win the title. California in 1959 is the other.
Florida is the 4th #3 seed to win the title. The others are Indiana in 1981, Michigan in 1989 and Syracuse in 2003.
Florida had the second lowest RPI to win the title. Only Arizona in 1997 (RPI #17) had a lower RPI. The RPI began in 1994.
Florida allowed the second least number of points for a National Champion in the shot-clock era with 340. Michigan State allowed 338 in 2000.
With Florida?s win, they tie Louisiana State for the second most wins in NCAA Tournament history by an SEC team with 23. Only Kentucky has more with 99.
The 2006 Tournament was the first since 1985 that no team scored 100 points in a game.
UCLA is now 11-2 in NCAA Tournament Championship games. Both losses were in Indianapolis.

This is the third time that UCLA has faced a team from Florida in the championship game. They defeated Jacksonville in 1970 and Florida State in 1972.
